The diseases in nurseries coniferous tree species

The most important plant diseases in forest nurseries

During the first year of plant growth characterized by three types of the disease:

  1. Decay of germs immediately after germination of seed
  2. Lodging saplings
  3. Decay of rot non-lignify plants
  • Fusarium spp (oxysporum,herbarum, blasticola)
  • Phytiphthora cactorum
  • Pyhtium debaryanum
  • Rhizoctonia solani
  • Botrytis cinerea
  • Trichothecium roseum
  • Alternaria
  • Aspergillus
  • Sordaria fimicola
  • Cladosporium herbarum

Measures to combat fungi causing diseases of seeds and plants in the first year of growth

1. Disinfection of seeds before entering the warehouse

For this, use the following fungicides:

  • Formalin (0.1% – the seed is immersed for 15 minutes)
  • Alkalescent copper carbonate-200 (doses of 250 cm3 / 100.kg. Seed)
  • Mangosal- S (200-300 gr / l00 kg seed)
  • Benfungin (200 gr / 100 kg seed)
  • Dithane S-60 (200-250 g / l 00 kg of seed)
  • Tiram – TS (350-500 cm3 / 100 kg seed)
  • Timetid- TS- (300-500 ml / 100 kg seed)
  • Baytan 15 DS (200 gr / 100 kg seed)
  • Zorosan – powder (200 gr / l00 kg seed)
  • Zorosan- liquid (150-200 cm3 / 100 kg seed)
  • Orthocid, Thiuram, Benomyl…

2. Disinfection warehouse before entering the seed

  • Painting rooms.
  • Spraying the walls of 4% Borax or 2% Formalin.
  • Disinfection of floors: 5% carbolic acid

3. Measures during the storage of seeds in the warehouse

Regular inspection of seed. During storage, overturning a pile, maintaining the temperature around 20 °C, provide good ventilation.

4. Disinfection of seeds before sowing

Apply to all fungicides that are listed at the disinfection of seeds before entering the warehouse. They can also be used organomercury fungicides (Agrosan, Abavit, Radosan, and others (the dose of 200-250 gr / l00 kg seed).

5. Disinfection of land

2% Formalin – (doses 3-5 l / m2)
0.5-1% Copper sulphate (blue stone) (dose 4-6 / m2) 0.25 Copper sulfate + 0.025 Kreozan (4-6 doses of 1 / m2) Orthocid 50, Thiuram
Antagonistic microflora (e.g., Trichoderma viride, etc..)
